Wildcats Return Home to Face Utah State and BYU

After a pair of matches on the road, Weber State volleyball returns to Swenson Gym this week for a pair of in-state matchups against Utah State and BYU.
The Wildcats are coming off a split of their two most recent matches in Reno, earning a 3-0 sweep over Nevada before falling to Kansas State in four sets. Weber State enters the homestand looking to build on the strong stretches it showed throughout the weekend.
Weber State opened the weekend with a dominant performance against Nevada, sweeping the Wolf Pack 25-20, 25-20, 25-16. The Wildcats hit .372 as a team and finished the match with 41 kills and seven team blocks. Rose Moore and Tennille Gonder led the offense with 12 kills each, while Ziya Munyer added six kills and hit .500. Lexie Carlson also contributed six kills while hitting .250.
The Wildcats then faced Kansas State the following night, battling throughout a four-set match. Weber State dropped the first two sets 25-16 and 25-18 before responding with its strongest offensive set of the match. The Wildcats hit .306 in the third set and rallied from behind to take the frame 27-25.
Moore led Weber State with 14 kills against Kansas State and added 10 digs and four block assists. Munyer finished with six kills while hitting .417, and Gonder added eight kills. Defensively, Marly Pratt paced the Wildcats with 20 digs, while Weber State recorded 15 total team blocks.
The Wildcats will now turn their attention to a pair of familiar opponents as they return home. Weber State will look to continue its strong offensive and defensive plays while using the home-court advantage at Swenson Gym against Utah State and BYU.
With two more in-state matchups ahead, the Wildcats will look to put together another strong week and continue building momentum as the season progresses.
