Wildcats Fall to BYU in Three Sets

Weber State volleyball fell to BYU 3-0 Thursday night at Swenson Gym, dropping the match 25-18, 25-16, 25-17.
The Wildcats battled throughout the match but were unable to overcome the Cougars, who improved to 7-1 on the season. Weber State falls to 6-3 overall with the loss.
Rose Moore led the Wildcats offensively with nine kills, while Tennille Gonder added eight kills and Lexie Carlson finished with seven. Morgan Pratt finished with 21 assists and four digs, while libero Marly Pratt paced the Wildcats with 16 digs. Katelynn Albano added five digs.
Weber State opened the match with an 18-25 loss in the first set. The Wildcats stayed within striking distance early, but BYU used a strong offensive attack to take the opening frame.
The Cougars continued to control the second set, hitting .423 as a team while taking a 25-16 victory. Weber State battled back in the third set but BYU closed out the match with a 25-17 win.
BYU hit .365 for the match compared to .171 for the Wildcats. Weber State recorded 30 kills and nine blocks, while the Cougars finished with 46 kills and seven blocks.
The Wildcats will continue their season by hitting the road to face the Utah Valley Wolverines on Saturday before kicking off conference season.
