The 2022 season was the seventh for Derrick Luken as part of the staff at Weber State. It was his sixth season as the Director of Football Operations for the Wildcats. In his role, Luken assists with all areas of the football program including travel, budget, scheduling and organization.

During his time at Weber State, he has been a part of seven-straight winning seasons, four Big Sky titles and six trips to the FCS Playoffs.

Luken spent the 2016 season as a Graduate Assistant and Video Coordinator for the Wildcats before becoming the Director of Operations.

A native Lompoc, California, Luken graduated from Lompoc High School. He then attended the Air Force Academy where he helped the football team with video. He graduated from Air Force in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management.

He then served for four and a half years in United States Air Force. He was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana and worked as a nuclear weapons officer.

He received his master’s degree in Sport Management from Drexel University in 2015.

Luken married his wife Krystykka in July 2017.
