The 2024 season was the 11th season for Grant Duff as a member of the coaching staff at Weber State. It was his eighth season as an assistant coach, including the four seasons as the Co-Defensive Coordinator. Duff also coached the defensive line for the Wildcats. He was involved in 130 games in his Wildcat career.  

Duff worked the first three years at Weber State as the Director of Football Operations and has also spent time as a Co-Special Teams Coordinator. 

In his 11 seasons, Duff helped lead Weber State to nine winning seasons, four Big Sky titles, and six trips to the FCS Playoffs, including the semifinals in 2019. Weber State has also been nationally ranked every season since 2016, including being ranked as high as second in the nation, the highest ranking in school history. 

In 2024, he coached three defensive players to All-Big Sky honors. In 2023, Duff helped lead Weber State to a 6-5 overall finish, WSU’s ninth straight winning season. Weber State closed the season with three straight wins, including a win over No. 4 ranked Idaho. He also coached Brayden Wilson to All-Big Sky second team honors. 

In 2022, Duff helped lead WSU to a another 10-win season, including an FBS win over Utah State. The Wildcat defense again ranked near the top in the nation in several statistical categories. Duff also coached Kalisi Moli to All-Big Sky honors.   

During the spring 2021 season, Weber State finished 5-1 and captured its fourth straight conference title, including the first outright title in school history with a perfect 5-0 Big Sky record. The Wildcats were ranked as high as second in the nation during the season, the highest ranking in school history. During the season, he coach George Tarlas to second team All-Big Sky honors.     

He has helped coach the Wildcat defense, which has been one of the best in the country in the last few seasons. Weber State has led the Big Sky in total defense, scoring defense, rushing defense and interceptions in several seasons.  

In 2019, WSU also led the league in sacks as the Wildcats finished the season 11-4 and ranked third in the nation. Duff coached Adam Rodriguez to All-American honors, Auston Tesch to second-team All-Big Sky honors and George Tarlas to third-team honors. 

He also works with the Wildcat kickers on special teams and in 2019 Trey Tuttle earned All-American honors and second-team All-Big Sky honors, while punter Doug Lloyd also earned second-team all-conference honors. 

In 2018, the Wildcats repeated as Big Sky champions and advanced to the FCS Quarterfinals and were ranked as high as third in the nation, the highest ranking in school history. Duff coached Rodriguez to third-team All-America and first-team All-Big Sky honors. 

In 2017, Weber State finished in the top 10 in the country in interceptions, turnovers gained and red zone defense. The Wildcats led the Big Sky in total defense, scoring defense, rushing defense, interceptions, pass efficiency defense and red zone defense.

He joined the WSU program in July 2014 as the Director of Football Operations where he assisted in all ares of the program, including travel, budget, scheduling and organization.

In 2016, Duff was part of the WSU program that finished with a 7-5 record, a third-place finish in the Big Sky Conference and advanced to the FCS Playoffs for the first time in seven years.

Prior to coming to Weber State, Duff spent five years with the football program at the University of Utah where he worked closely with coach Jay Hill. Duff joined the Ute program in 2008 and spent three seasons as an administrative assistant for the defense and special teams. He spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons as an on-field graduate assistant coach where he worked with the stud linebackers and coached the offensive scout teams.

During his time at Utah, he worked behind the scenes for four Ute bowl teams, including the 2009 Sugar Bowl victory over Alabama. He was also involved in the 2009 Poinsettia Bowl, the 2010 Las Vegas Bowl and the 2011 Sun Bowl.

Duff is a native of Blackfoot, Idaho, and graduated from BYU-Idaho in 2009 with a degree in agriculture. He earned his Master’s degree in Health Promotion and Education from the University of Utah in 2013.

He and his wife Lyndi have four children: Abby, Colette, Magnus and Margaret.
