The 2021 season was the third year for Jared Ursua as an assistant coach at Weber State. He coaches the wide receivers for the Wildcats and is also the WSU recruiting coordinator. 

During the 2021 season, he coached All-American wide reciever and Kickoff returner Rashid Shaheed, who also earned second team All-Big Sky honors as a receiver. 

Ursua came to WSU in 2019 and was a part of two Big Sky Championships during his first two seasons and two trips to the FCS Playoffs, including the semifinals in 2019. Weber State also finished in the top 10 in the nation in 2019 and spring 2021, including being ranked as high as second in the nation, the highest ranking in school history. 

During the spring 2021 season, Weber State finished 5-1 and captured its fourth straight conference title, including the first outright title in school history with a perfect 5-0 Big Sky record. The Wildcats were ranked as high as second in the nation during the season, the highest ranking in school history.  

Ursua came to Weber State in January 2019 after spending the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at Southern Utah. He coached the Thunderbird wide receivers and was also the co-recruiting coordinator. He was part of the SUU teams that won Big Sky titles in 2015 and 2017 and advanced to the FCS Playoffs. 

Ursua played football at Southern Utah from 2008-11 as a wide receiver and kick returner. 

A native of Kailua, Kona, Hawaii, he played high school football at Kealakehe High School. 

He and his wife Sara have three children.
