Marshall Parnell is in his second year with the Weber State Athletic Department.  He joined Weber State's staff in the spring of 2010 as a Leadership Coordinator, working specifically with the Weber State football and women's basketball teams, in addition to other WSU teams. He has over 27 years of Martial Arts experience and leadership training.

Parnell, a United States Marine Corp Company Honorman, graduated number one in his class of 600 recruits. He has used his expertise as a master instructor of martial arts, and his experience as a United State Marine, to build confidence and leadership in athletes and business leaders around the world.

Working with the team since early Summer, Parnell has been instrumental in creating a player level leadership structure which has resulted in a higher level of mental toughness, confidence, player pride and ownership within the program, and has enabled the ‘Cats to reach a higher level of competitiveness.

Among his many awards, promotions and levels of competence earned, Parnell has studied eight different martial arts and is a 5th Degree Tae Kwon Do Black Belt, and a 5th Degree Haidong Gumdo Black Belt.  

He has traveled across the entire world coaching, teaching and developing leadership skills to some of the greatest individuals, and teams, in the field of martial arts.  As a rest of his coaching, and leadership training, Parnell was awarded a sword presented by President Kim of South Korea in 2003. He became the first foreign master to ever receive this prestigious honor.
