The 2015 season was the second year for Steve Clark as the offensive coordinator at Weber State. He also works as the quarterbacks coach for the Wildcats.
In 2015, Clark helped the Wildcats to a 6-5 overall record and a 5-3 mark in Big Sky play, Weber State’s first winning season in five years. In his two seasons at Weber State, Clark has coached 10 players on the offensive side of the ball to Big Sky All-Conference honors.
Clark joined the Weber State staff in December 2013. He came to Weber State from Southern Utah where he coached from 2008-13. He was part of the Southern Utah team that posted an 8-5 record in 2013 and advanced to the FCS Playoffs for the first time in school history.
During his time at Southern Utah the Thunderbirds set numerous passing records. Southern Utah’s five top single-season passing attempts efforts, the four top single-season receiving yards efforts, and five of the top six completions and passing yards efforts have come in the past six seasons under Clark. He coached two players, quarterback Brad Sorensen and wide receiver Tysson Poots, who earned Great West Conference Offensive MVP honors at SUU. Sorensen finished his career as the SUU’s all-time leader passer and was drafted in the 2012 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers.
Prior to his time at Southern Utah, Clark spent time on the coaching staffs at BYU and Utah. He spent three seasons (2005-07) on the staff at BYU working with the offensive line and special teams under coach Bronco Mendenhall. He helped the Cougars to a pair of Mountain West Conference titles and three straight Las Vegas Bowl appearances.
He spent the 2004 season as a defensive assistant under Urban Meyer at the University of Utah, part of the team that went a perfect 12-0 and won the Fiesta Bowl. Jay Hill was an administrative assistant with the Utes that season.
During his coaching career, Clark’s teams have gone 4-1 in bowl games, 2-0 at Utah and 2-1 at BYU.
Clark also served one season as the passing game coordinator at St. Mary’s College. In 2002 he was the director of football operations at Utah. He also spent three seasons as the offensive coordinator at Provo High School.
Clark earned a degree in communications from BYU in 1992. He and his wife Suzanne are the parents of four children: Alex, Emily, Jamison and Maggie.
