Winston finished his career at Weber State in 2023 as a two-time All-American. He started his career as a walk-on in 2017 and finished as an All-American. He also was a two-time first-team All-Big Sky selection.
He played in 47 career games as a Wildcat. He finished his career second in Weber State history in career solo tackles with 170. He totaled 281 career tackles, just outside the top 10, and had 28.5 tackles for loss with seven sacks. He also finished his career tied for the Weber State all-time lead in forced fumbles with nine.
He also twice served as a Wildcat team captain.
2023 (Senior)
Earned multiple All-America honors and was a first-team All-Big Sky selection…Led the Big Sky and finished eighth in the nation in tackles at 10.7 per game…He also finished fifth in the nation and led the conference in solo tackles with 68…He had 118 total tackles…He also was fifth in the conference in tackles for loss with 12…Was named the National Player of the Week after WSU’s win over No. 4 Idaho where he had a career-high 17 tackles…He had 10 or more tackles in six games during the season…Also had 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles…Had one interception which he returned 40 yards for a touchdown to help lead Weber State to a win over Northern Colorado...Was named the Big Sky Preseason MVP.
2022 (Junior)
Served as a team captain and earned All-America honors from Bluebloods and first-team All-Big Sky honors, helping Weber State to another 10-win season and a trip to the FCS Playoffs…Finished sixth in the Big Sky in tackles with 112 for an average of 8.6 per game…Totaled 68 solo tackles, the fifth-most in a season in Weber State history…Had 10 or more tackles five times on the season with a career-high 14 in a win over Montana…Also had 11 tackles in wins over Utah Tech and Northern Arizona…Totaled 12.5 tackles for loss…Tied for first in the Big Sky with five forced fumbles on the season, tied for the second-most in a season in school history…Forced three fumbles with two strip sacks, and one led to a touchdown in Weber State’s win over Idaho State and was honored as the National Player of the Week for his performance…Recorded four sacks on the year with two against Idaho State and one each against Utah Tech and North Dakota…Also had one interception and one fumble recovery…Earned Big Sky Academic All-Conference honors pursuing a Master of Health Administration degree.
2021 (Sophomore)
Played in all 11 games for the Wildcats and had 36 total tackles with 24 solo tackles…Had a season-high eight tackles in the win over Northern Colorado…Had three tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks…Had two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery…Also had two quarterback hurries and one pass breakup…Earnd Big Sky Academic All-Conference honors in Health Administration.
Spring 2021
Played in all six games during the spring season, helping Weber State to a fourth straight Big Sky Championship…Recorded 15 total tackles on the season with 10 solo tackles...Had at least one tackle in every game with a season-high four tackles in the season-opening win at Idaho State...Also had one tackle for loss at Southern Utah and had one pass breakup.
2019 (R-Freshman)
Saw action in five games during Weber State’s historic season, helping WSU win a third-straight Big Sky title and advance to the FCS Semifinals.
2018
Was a member of the Wildcat team during WSU’s second-straight Big Sky title season.
2017
Sat out the season as a red shirt during WSU’s historic season that included a Big Sky title, a school-record 11 wins and two wins in the FCS Playoffs.
