Jenteal Jackson was named the seventh head coach in Weber State women’s basketball history in April 2023.
Making an immediate impact on the Wildcats performance on the court, Jackson led Weber State to a 13-16, 10-8 record during her second season as head coach. The Wildcats earned the No. 4 seed in the Big Sky Tournament, the first time since the 2017-18 season. Under her leadership, the Wildcats swept Eastern Washington during the regular season for the first time since the 2007-08 season, swept Northern Colorado during the regular season for the first time since the 2009-10 season, swept Idaho State during the regular season for the first time since the 2008-09 season and had a Wildcat player receive Big Sky First Team honors since the 2017-18 season.
During her first season, Jackson led the Wildcats to a first-round Big Sky Tournament win against Portland State.
Jackson, a Utah native and former in-state college player, comes to Weber State after spending the last two seasons as the head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster and played college basketball at BYU and Westminster.
Jackson was named the head coach at Westminster in April 2021. In her first season, she led the Griffins to a 17-9 overall record and a 16-5 mark in conference play and the team hosted an RMAC Tournament game. During the 2022-23 season, she coached the Griffins to a 17-12 overall record and a 15-7 mark in RMAC conference games.
Before becoming head coach, Jackson spent nine years as an assistant coach with the Griffins, following a two-year playing career at Westminster. While serving as a women’s basketball assistant coach, she was also the women’s golf assistant coach for two years and the head women’s golf coach for two seasons from 2015-17. She guided the team to its first appearance in the RMAC Golf Championship in 2016.
She played two seasons of college basketball at BYU before transferring to Westminster where she played two seasons from 2010-12. She played in 67 games for the Griffins and averaged 9.0 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game and was a part of two Frontier Conference championship teams.
She also was a member of the women’s golf team at BYU and then at Westminster from 2010-13. She won two individual Player of the Year awards at Westminster and helped the team to two team Frontier Conference Championships.
Jackson graduated from Westminster with a degree in Communications in 2013. A native of Salt Lake City, she played high school basketball at Skyline High School and twice earned first-team All-State honors, and was named Miss Basketball and the Utah state MVP in 2008. She was also a five-time Utah Junior Golf State champion.
