Dave Kearl is in his 11th season as the Men’s Golf Coach at Weber State. Kearl was a driving force in the recent creation of the America Sky Conference, a golf-only league that features teams from around the nation that were previously independent due to lack of golf programs in each school's respective core conference. The conference received probationary NCAA certification in 2007 and held their first conference championships under Kearl's coordination at Valley View Golf Course in Layton, Utah.

Kearl guided the Wildcats to victory in the 2011 America Sky Championship at Troon North in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Wildcats made up four shots on the final hole to take the championship by three strokes, defeating second-round leader Sacramento State 884 to 887. Senior Nick Despain earned medalist honors at the event, firing a final-round 68 to finish at two-over-par 215 for the tournament.

The championship was Kearl's fourth conference title since coming to Weber State. During his tenure, the Wildcats have two Big Sky Conference titles and a pair of America Sky titles.

Kearl's squad won the inaugural conference title in September of 2007, defeating the field by five strokes. WSU golfers Keaton Woodland and Rand Sargent finished second and third respectively in the individual standings.

He came to Weber State in the 2000-01 season and led the Wildcats to their 16th Big Sky Championship, advancing to the NCAA West Region Qualifying Championship in his first season. Kearl was consequently named the 2001 Big Sky Coach-of-the-Year. He repeated in 2001-02, winning the Big Sky title for a second consecutive year and was again named Big Sky Coach-of-the-Year. Blair Bingham, a two-year letter-winner with the Wildcats under Kearl’s leadership, won the Big Sky medalist title in 2002. Following the 2002 championship, Portland State and Eastern Washington dropped men's golf, putting the conference under the required limit for a conference tournament and automatic berth in the NCAA's.

Kearl is currently a Golf Professional at Oakridge Country Club, a position he assumed in 2006. Prior to Kearl's move to Oakridge, he was the Head Professional at Valley View Golf Course since 1977. He was an Assistant Pro at Bountiful Ridge Golf Course from 1974 to 1976 after competing on the University of Utah men’s golf team in 1972 and 1973. He has been a member of the Professional Golf Association since 1982.

Kearl is a native of the local area. He was born in Clearfield, Utah and attended schools in Weber and Davis counties and graduated from Viewmont High School in Bountiful, Utah.
