 Carmen Garduno-Berlinerblau was a three-time NCAA All-America runner for the Wildcats. Hailing from Taluca, Mexico, Carmen Garduno was the first female to begin the distance running tradition at Weber State University.
 Carmen at one time held Weber State school records in the 1,500 meters, 3,000 meters, 5,000 and 10,000 meters and they stood for many years. Her mark of 16:50.1 in the 5,000 meters is one of the all-time best marks at WSU.
 She enjoyed an outstanding competitive year in 1981-82, playing fourth in the nation at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 1981 at Pocatello, Idaho, to earn All-America honors. She followed that up in the spring with a third-place finish in the 10,000 meters (36:04.25) as well as a fifth-place finish in the 5,000 meters (17:15.8) at the 1892 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
 Carmen married in 1982 and began her family after wrapping up a tremendous Weber State running career.
