Dr. Russell N. Hirst’s involvement with the Weber State athletic programs has been a crucial part in the teams’ success through the years.

Hirst became the team physician for Weber State Athletics on Sept. 1, 1946. He continued an affiliation with keeping WSU athletes healthy and ready to compete for the next 50 years and beyond.

As team physician, Hirst is honored for his dedication to the treatment and prevention of injuries and illness of thousands of Wildcat athletes.

Also, “Doc” Hirst and his wife Verna have traveled extensively with the Weber State sports teams, and have been members of the Wildcat Club since its inception.

Hirst studied and graduated from the Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, Missouri.
