As a nine-time Big Sky champion, an NCAA record holder, and an Olympian, Lindsey Anderson is one of the greatest athletes in Weber State history.Â
Anderson was the first Weber State athlete in any sport to compete in the Summer Olympics as she qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the steeplechase.Â
She is also a member of the Big Sky Conference Hall of Fame (2023), and the Utah Sports Hall of Fame (2024).Â
In 2023, she returned as an assistant to the Weber State men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams.Â
A native of Morgan, Utah, Anderson was a standout with the Weber State women’s track and field and cross country teams from 2004-07. She was a nine-time Big Sky Conference Champion, a two-time NCAA All-American, set the NCAA record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and finished second at the NCAA Championships.Â
In 2008, she finished second overall in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the US Olympic Trials, posting a personal best time of 9:30.75, a career best by over nine seconds, to earn a spot on the US Olympic Team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.Â
Lindsey finished her Weber State career by earning All-American honors in the steeplechase at the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Championships. She ended her career holding four school records in indoor, outdoor, and cross country, and earned All-American honors twice. As a senior she won five Big Sky titles in indoor and outdoor track. As an athlete Lindsey was a nine-time Big Sky Conference Champion, a two-time NCAA All-American and set the NCAA record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and finished second at the NCAA Championships. Lindsey placed third in the USA Track and Field National Championships earning a spot on the United States Team to the 2007 World Track and Field Championships in Osaka, Japan. She holds Weber State school records in the 3,000 meter steeplechase 9:39.95 the 5,000 meters 16:00.77, and the 10,000 meters 33:16.12.
Anderson was honored with the Weber State Female Career Achievement Award in 2007 and was also named the Weber State Female Athlete of the Year for the 2006-07 season. She also was honored as a Big Sky Scholar Athlete during her senior year. In June 2007, she was named to the ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Track and Field/Cross country Academic All-American Second Team. She was also chosen as the Big Sky Conference representative for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. Â
