Weber State soccer is the Big Sky preseason favorite.

For the first time in 17 years, the Wildcats have been selected as the preseason favorite for the 2026 season in the Big Sky Conference, according to a vote of the league's head coaches

It's the first time Weber State has been picked as the preseason favorite since 2009.

The Wildcats garnered five first-place votes among the head coaches and totaled 74 points to finish first in the poll. Idaho was just behind with 70 points and four first-place votes. New Big Sky member Utah Tech is third with one first-place vote and 63 points.

Northern Arizona, Eastern Washington, Portland State, Montana, Idaho State, Northern Colorado, and Southern Utah round out the rest of the poll.

Head coach Kyle Christensen returns for his second season at the helm with the Wildcats after leading Weber State to a 12-6-2 overall record last year. Weber State was second in the Big Sky at 5-2-1 and advanced to the championship match of the conference tournament. Christensen was named the Big Sky Coach of the Year.

Weber State had four players named to the Big Sky preseason all-conference team. Oakley Anderson, Lily Blum, Lauren Butorac, and Isabella Sackett were all selected to the preseason team.

The Wildcats host SLCC in a free exhibition match on Friday, August 7. The regular season begins on Wednesday, August 12, at Utah. Weber State has 10 regular season home matches this season.
