Blum Nets Two in Wildcats' 2-3 Finish

OGDEN, Utah — Weber State soccer fell 3-2 to South Dakota State Thursday night at Wildcat Soccer Field despite a two-goal performance from Lily Blum.
The Jackrabbits struck three times in the opening half, scoring in the 18th, 20th and 33rd minutes to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Weber State answered just before the break, as Blum converted a penalty kick at 42:55 to put the Wildcats on the scoreboard and cut the deficit to two.
Blum continued her strong performance coming out of halftime, finding the back of the net again at 47:08. Bonnie Buswell assisted on the goal, bringing Weber State within one at 3-2.
The Wildcats continued to battle throughout the remainder of the match but ultimately ended falling to the Jackrabbits.
Blum led Weber State's attack with three shots, all three on goal, while Oakley Anderson added four shots, all four on frame. Simone Packer and Amanda Caswell each recorded one shot.
Weber State finished with nine shots, including seven on goal. South Dakota State recorded 11 shots with seven on frame.
In goal, Lauren Butorac made four saves for the Wildcats.
Weber State is now 3-3-1 on the season and will remain home for another non-conference matchup Sunday against UC Santa Barbara.
