Packer Scores as Wildcats Fall 2-1 to UC Santa Barbara

OGDEN, Utah — Weber State soccer fell 2-1 to UC Santa Barbara Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Soccer Field, battling through more than 80 minutes with 10 players.
The Wildcats got off to a strong start before being reduced to 10 players following a red card in the 11th minute. Weber State continued to battle despite playing a player down for the remainder of the match.
UC Santa Barbara broke through in the 37th minute, taking a 1-0 lead at 36:47. The Gauchos carried the advantage into halftime.
Weber State quickly responded after the break when Simone Packer converted a penalty kick at 47:34 to level the match at 1-1. Packer finished the match with two shots, both on goal, including the Wildcats' lone goal.
UC Santa Barbara regained the lead in the 73rd minute, scoring at 72:19 to make it 2-1.
The Wildcats continued to look for an equalizer but were unable to find a second goal. Weber State finished with eight shots, including four on goal.
Packer led the Wildcats with two shots, while Isabelle Dahl added two shots with one on frame. KJ Skinner also recorded a shot on goal.
Lauren Butorac made three saves in goal for Weber State.
The Wildcats are now 3-4-1 on the season and are turning their attention to the final stretch of non-conference play in Orem this Saturday.
