He ran for over 1,000 yards in all four of his seasons with the Wildcats, the only player in school history to do so, and has four of the top 17 single-season rushing records.Â
A native of Springville, Utah, Smith joined coach Ron McBride and the Wildcats in 2006 and immediately made an impact. As a freshman, he ran for 1,129 yards and eight touchdowns in 11 games and became the first Wildcat freshman running back to earn All-Big Sky honors.Â
As a sophomore in 2007, he ran for 1,314 yards with seven touchdowns and once again earned first-team all-conference honors and for the first time in his career, earned honorable mention All-America honors.Â
The 2008 season will go down as one of the best seasons in Weber State history. The Wildcats won the Big Sky title for the first time in 21 years and advanced to the second round of the FCS Playoffs. Smith once again earned first-team All-Big Sky honors and earned second-team All-America honors. He ran for 1,585 yards, still the third-most in a season in school history, with 21 touchdowns, the second-most ever in a season. He had 28 all-purpose touchdowns, still tied for the most in a season in Big Sky history.Â
During his senior season of 2009, Smith again earned first-team All-Big Sky honors as he ran for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns. He helped lead the Wildcats to the FCS Playoffs for the second straight season. Â
He twice ran for over 100 yards and had over 100 yards receiving in a game. That feat has only happened three times in school history, with Trevyn accomplishing it twice.Â
Smith passed away in July 2019. He is survived by his wife Erica and four children.Â
