'Cats Drop Game with Arkansas State

The Weber State women's basketball team lost their third straight game falling 57-44 to Arkansas State Friday afternoon in the first game of the Washington Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington. The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-3 on the season.
Weber State jumpd out to an early 12-3 lead over the first five minutes of the game. They held a ten point lead at 19-9 with 6:33 to play in the first half and led 24-20 at halftime, the lowest scoring half of the season.
In the second half the Wildcats held a seven point lead at 31-24 with 16:00 minutes to play when Arkansas State went on a 12-2 run over the next two minutes and took their first lead of the game. The Indians closed the last 13:00 of the game on a 19-9 run to pull out the win in the first ever meeting between the two schools.
Weber State shot just 31 percent from the field, including 28 percent from three-point land. The ?Cats also committed a season-high 26 turnovers and the Indians converted 26 points off of turnovers. WSU did out rebound Arkansas State 38-32.
The Wildcats were led by senior guard Ahkiah Hunter who finished with a career-high 20 points. Hunter was 7-14 from the field and also had three steals in the game.
Senior Sara Tuomi scored in double-figures for the fourth game, ending up with 13 points and seven rebounds. Hunter and Tuomi combined for 33 of WSU's 44 points. The Wildcats had just two points off the bench.
Weber State will stay in Seattle and next play Sunday at 1:00 p.m. MDT against the loser of today's Washington vs. Idaho.
