SAN FRANCISCO -? It was a game the Wildcats won in every statistical category but turnovers and final score as the University of San Francisco came from two six-point deficits in the final seven minutes of the second half to edge Weber State 67-65 Saturday afternoon. It was WSU's fourth straight setback of the season and third straight on the road.

The ?Cats shot a season high 57 percent (20-35) from the field, hit 8-15 (.533) from the three-point arc and made 17-22 (.773) from the free throw line along with out-rebounding the Don's 26-24, yet it was a season-high 25 turnovers by the Wildcats which was their undoing.

“It was a game we had for the taking and couldn't finish,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “Plain and simply we didn't take care of the ball and gave them too many opportunities to score. We did everything else as well as we have all season.”

The game was tied at half (29-29) and after the Don's took a 39-36 lead on a jumper by Myron Strong with 14:48 left the Wildcats answered with 9-0 scoring run taking the lead at 45-39 with 9:41 left on a short jumper by Kellen McCoy.

USF then went on a 10-4 scoring run to tie the game at 49-49 on two free throws by Dior Lowhorn at the 4:34 mark. WSU's Tyler Billings hit a long three-pointer putting WSU up 52-49 but was answered on the other end by Christian Hernandez's three.

The Wildcat took their last lead (57-56) with 2:14 remaining on a free throw by Arturas Valeika, USF forward Danny Cavic then connected on a three-pointer with 1:49 left which gave his team the lead and ignited an 11-8 scoring run to end the game.

Billings hit another long three with 12 seconds left pulling the Wildcats to within two at 65-63. USF's Manny Quezada was then quickly fouled by Dezmon Harris. Quezada, a 90 percent free throw shooter, made both shots. Kellen McCoy made a basket at the buzzer for the final two point margin giving him a career high 12 points.

The Wildcats were led by Arturas Valeika who scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds before fouling out with 1:37 remaining. Valeika had a near perfect afternoon hitting 4-5 from the field and 3-4 from the line including 2-2 from the three-point line. Kellen McCoy and Juan Pablo Silveira each added 12.

USF was led by freshman guard Myron Strong's 16 points. Manny Quezada added 15 and Dior Lowhorn who came into the game averaging 23.9 points and 7.9 rebounds had 14 points and six rebounds and the Dons moved to 4-5 overall for the season.

The Wildcats now move to 2-6 for the season having lost their last four. That is the team's longest losing streak since the 2005-06 season. WSU's longest losing streak last year under Coach Randy Rahe was three. The Wildcats now return home for two home games in a row. On Friday, December 14 they host Montana-Western in an 8:05 tip (not 7:05) in the Dee Events Center then host Cal State Bakersfield on Tuesday, December 18 at 7:05.
