Wildcats Post 3-1 Win Over Roadrunners

Four Wildcats posted double figures in kills as Weber State beat Cal State Bakersfield 3-1 in a non-conference match Thursday night at the Swenson Gym. The ?Cats picked up a 25-23, 26-28, 25-22, 25-22 win to improve to 10-7 on the season.
Brittney Bisaillon led the Wildcats with 15 kills, had a hitting percentage of .464, and tied her season-high with eight blocks, including four solo blocks. Chelsea Bair posted double figures in kills for the 16th straight match and had her ninth double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs. Leah Burmeister posted her third straight double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs and Jenna Leggat added 12 kills for the ?Cats.
Weber State trailed 22-20 late in the first set but finished the set out with a 5-1 run to seal the win. They improved to 7-1 this season when winning the first set.
However, the Wildcats couldn't finish out the Roadrunners in the second set. WSU held a 24-21 lead and had three set points but Cal State Bakersfield posted a 7-2 run to win that set.
The ?Cats were closers in the third set as they trailed 22-18 and scored the final seven points of the set to secure the win and went on to win the match in the fourth set.
“I liked the way we battled tonight and never gave up,” said WSU head coach Al Givens. “It was a good team effort and we played hard and found a way to scored when we needed to. We blocked the ball well and did some nice things.”
The Wildcats finished the night with ten blocks, including four solo blocks by Bisaillon. Weber State narrowly edged the Roadrunners in kills, 62-60, and digs, 60-58.
Junior Jocilyn Randall finished with a career-high 45 assists and Caitlyn Anderson added 16 digs for the Wildcats.
Weber State will now return to Big Sky Conference action as they play at Sacramento State this Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Mountain time.
