Wildcats Fall 78-65 to Bobcats in Bozeman

Rebecca Mercer scored 35 points to lead Montana State to a 78-65 win over Weber State Saturday night in Bozeman, Montana. The loss drops Weber State to 11-14 overall and 5-8 in 5-8 in Big Sky action.
Montana State never trailed in the game and led by as many as 14 points in the second half as they jumped out to a quick 25-11 lead halfway through the half. MSU led 39-26 at halftime after shooting 54 percent from the field in the half, compared to just 29 percent for Weber State.
In the second half the Bobcats led by as many as 20 points and WSU was never closer than nine points the rest of the game.
Mercer, a senior from Perth, Australia, was 10-22 from the field, including 5-8 from three-point land. She was also 10-13 from the free throw line for the 35 points, a career-high and the most points scored by a player from the Big Sky this season.
The Wildcats had four players in double figures, led by Janie Rayback who tied her season-high with 15 points. Senior Sara Tuomi scored 12 points but was just 4-20 from the field, including 1-8 from three-point land.
Senior Tashina Taylor posted a double-double, finishing with 10 points and a season-high 12 rebounds. It was Taylor's fifth career double-double. Ali Thorderson also added ten points for the Wildcats off the bench.
Weber State shot 38 percent from the field and allowed the Bobcats to shoot 46 percent. The ?Cats also had 19 turnovers, compared to just 13 for Montana State. WSU did out rebound MSU 39-38.
Weber State is now tied with Northern Arizona for sixth in the Big Sky standings at 5-8 with three conference games remaining. The Wildcats host NAU next Thursday at 8:00 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.
