Wildcats Blow Out Hornets in Final Home Game

Ogden, UT ? Caitlin Anderson posted a career-high 26 points as Weber State cruised to an 84-58 win over Sacramento State Saturday in the final home game of the 2007-08 season. The win snaps a three-game losing streak for the Wildcats and keeps alive their hopes of the Big Sky Tournament.
Weber State never trailed in the game, breaking out to a 8-0 lead and then 18-3 five minutes into the game. They scored 50 points in the first half and led 50-30 at the break. WSU led by as many as 30 points in the second half and the Hornets never got closer than 21 the rest of the game. It was WSU's 17th straight win over Sacramento State, and they are now 12-0 all-time in Ogden.
Anderson finished the night with 26 points and nine rebounds. She had 21 of those points in the first half. For the game she was 8-20 from the field, including 4-8 from three-point land.
Three other Wildcats also scored in double figures. Ali Thorderson also knocked down four three-pointers and tied her career-high with 16 points. Senior Tashina Taylor, playing in her final home game, scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds and senior Ahkiah Hunter added 12 points. Tonya Schnibbe posted ten assists for the second-straight game.
The 84 points is a season-high for the Wildcats and the first time they have scored 80 or more since February 2007. WSU shot 44 percent from the field and held Sacramento State to 37 percent shooting. The ?Cats were also 9-16 from the three-point line. In the two games combined against Sacramento State, Weber Sate made 23 three-pointers.
The Wildcats also out rebounded SAC 41-32 and the Hornets had 23 turnovers, which Weber State turned into 31 points.
With the win the Wildcats improve to 12-15 overall and 6-9 in Big Sky Conference action with one conference game remaining next Saturday at Idaho State. Weber State must win that game and have some help in order to advance to the Big Sky Tournament.
