Wildcats Defeat Bengals 3-1 for First Big Sky Win

Weber State picked up their first conference victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Idaho State Friday night at the Swenson Gym. The 'Cats snapped a three-match losing streak with a 25-12, 27-25, 22-25, 25-21 win to improve to 9-6 overall and 1-2 in Big Sky action.
The Wildcats had 66 kills on the night, compared to just 43 for the Bengals. Weber State also posted 73 digs, beating Idaho State by 24 in that category. WSU also out hit Idaho State .285 to .138.
The ?Cats rolled to a set one win as they closed the set on a 14-5 run. Second set was tight with 16 ties and six lead changes but the Wildcats hit .405 in the set and were able to pull out the win.
Idaho State came back with a win in the third set but Weber State never trailed in route to sealing the match in the fourth set. It was Weber State's fourth straight win over Idaho State.
Junior Jenna Leggat led Weber State with a season-high 16 kills, with ten of them coming in the first set. She also hit .289 for the match and posted seven digs.
Chelsea Bair had her seventh double-double with 15 kills and a season-high 17 digs. She also became the tenth Wildcat in school history with 1,000 career kills.
Senior Leah Burmeister also posted season-highs with 13 kills and 13 digs for her first double-double of the year and the 30th of her career.
Brittney Bisaillon was the fourth Wildcat in double figures with kills, finishing the night with 11 kills and seven blocks, while posting a .429 hitting percentage. Caitlyn Anderson also posted 15 digs for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats will now step out of Big Sky Conference play with two non-conference home matches next week. They will host Utah Tuesday and Cal State Bakersfield Thursday at the Swenson Gym.
