Wildcats Fall to Montana State

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Ali Thorderson hit six three-point shots in seven attempts, but her 18 points were not enough as Weber State (5-11 overall; 0-4 Big Sky) fell to Montana State (7-9; 1-3) 65-62 on Thursday night at Worthington Arena. The loss extended the Wildcats' losing streak to six games.
Following Sarah Conner's three-pointer with 5:05 left in the first half, the Wildcats led by 10 at 30-20, but the Bobcats cut the lead to four at the break.
The Wildcats held the lead until MSU's Erika Perry scored on a layup with 1:38 remaining in the game. WSU retook the lead on the following possession as Tonya Schnibbe hit a jumper, but the Bobcats' Nubia Garcia scored with 1:14 left to give Montana State the lead for good.
Garcia tied Thorderson for game-high honors with 18 points on 9 of 19 shooting. She also pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds. Perry added 17 points for Montana State, while Sarah Strand added 13 points.
Thorderson's points all came from behind the arc, as she went 6 of 9 overall. Conner added 14 points, hitting 4 of 9 three-pointers of her own, and had five assists. Schnibbe chipped in with nine points, five rebounds and seven assists.
The Wildcats will next travel to Missoula, Mont. to face the University of Montana on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 7:00 p.m.
