The Weber State volleyball team dropped a tight Big Sky Conference match, falling 3-1 to Sacramento State Saturday night at the Swenson Gym.  The Hornets won the match 30-28, 23-25, 25-20, giving Weber State its third straight loss.

The first set was a thriller with ten ties and five lead changes.  The Wildcats fell down 19-12 early but rallied back to tie the match at 22-22.  WSU had two set points but they were able to put it away before the Hornets pulled it out.

Weber State bounced back in the second set, which was also very tight.  With the scored tied 23-23 the 'Cats scored the final two points to even the match at 1-1.

Sacramento State only trailed once in the third set and broke away from a 17-17 tie with a 5-0 run, including three aces.  The Hornets jumped out to a 17-9 lead in the fourth set and never looked back.

"Letting the first set slip away was costly," said WSU head coach Al Givens.  "We need to close out sets, especially at home and we weren't able to do that.  We did some good things tonight but we need more production from other players in order to win."

Sacramento State finished with 15 more kills than Weber State, but the Wildcats out hit the Hornets and both teams posted 59 digs.  Weber State also out blocked the Hornets 13-8 but Sacramento State posted seven service aces.

The 'Cats were led by senior Chelsea Bair who posted her fourth straight double-double, finishing with 16 kills and 14 digs.  Caitlyn Anderson also had a double-double for the Wildcats, posting 12 kills and 11 digs.  Emily Jones added a career-high eight blocks for WSU.

The Hornets were led by Desiree Hoyum who finished with 22 kills and 13 digs as Sacramento State improved to 3-3 in Big Sky play.

With the loss the 'Cats fall to 3-15 on the season and 2-5 in Big Sky Conference action.  WSU will close out the first half of conference play Wednesday when they host Idaho State.
