OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women's soccer team suffered another Big Sky setback on Saturday morning as Northern Arizona pushed in three goals to claim a 3-0 win at Wildcat Soccer Field. The loss dropped the Wildcats to 5-9-0 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

"It's disappointing," said WSU head coach Tim Crompton. "They (NAU) were able to score some goals where they didn't put a lot of balls together. Our inability to make plays in those key moments was a big factor. We didn't play very well all around. We didn't pass very well; we didn't possess the ball very well at all. We didn't play like they played."

The Lumberjacks (7-7-1 overall; 2-2 Big Sky) put nine of their 13 shots on-goal, while the Wildcats managed just four on-frame out of 11 attempts.

Corie McGuire put the NAU side on the board in the 40th minute as she found a clear shot from the top of the box. The shot beat WSU goalkeeper Rebecca Ritchie to the left post.

The 'Jacks kept the pressure on as the match moved to the second half, and scored twice in the first 14 minutes of the period. Katie Tribbey netted her first goal of the season in the 52nd minute, pushing a header to the right side of the net off a Sarah Neatherton cross.

In the 59th minute, Sam Monahan joined Tribbey with her first tally of the year. The shot came off a free kick from just outside the box after Jenna Samora touched the ball into play.

Ritchie posted six saves for the Wildcats, while Tori Rocke stopped all four WSU shots on-goal to earn the shutout for NAU.

"I feel bad for the players," said Crompton. "They're better than that. They are capable of more than that. But, hey, it is what it is. Nobody can go back and change it. That's something that they've got to figure out. It's all part of the process for this group. Until they figure it out, and they will, but until they do, it's going to be a rocky road."

The Wildcats now face a formidable task as they attempt to qualify for the Big Sky postseason. WSU has three matches left on the league schedule, but all three come on the road, beginning with matches against Sacramento State and Portland State next week.

"We're certainly up against it now," said Crompton. "There's no room for error. We've got to win three games on the road. And, of course, you can't look at it that way. We've just got to focus on getting a win next Friday, and then we'll see what happens from there."
