Box Score

A week after losing a match in which they won the first two sets then lost three in a row, the Weber State volleyball team won a match Friday night after losing the first two sets.  The Wildcats picked up a 3-2 win at Sacramento State late Friday to snap a four-match losing streak.  WSU won the match 23-25, 15-25, 25-23, 25-6, 15-10 to improve to 6-19 overall and 4-9 in Big Sky Conference action.

It was the first time the 'Cats have come back to win a match after losing the first two sets since September 2006 against Binghamton.  It also marked just the second win ever for the Wildcats in Sacramento.

The first set had 17 ties and four lead changes before Hornets won the set.  The Wildcas struggled in the second set and fell to a quick 2-0 deficit.  But the 'Cats rallied and never trailed in the third set.  They jumped out to a 21-13 lead in the fourth and closed out the match by never trailing in the fifth set.

Four of WSU's six wins this season have come in five sets.

Weber State hit a seasonal best .280 for the match and had a season-high of 74 digs on the night.  They also recorded 64 kills and had ten blocks.

The Wildcats were led by their five seniors in the match, three of whom had double-doubles and two recorded career-highs.  Senior Chelsea Bair posted 20 kills, giving her two straight matches with 20 or more kills.  She also had her ninth double-double of the season as she added a season-high 15 digs on the night.

Jenna Leggat had a career-high 18 kills on the night and also added ten digs for her third double-double of the season and the fifth of her career.  Jocilyn Taylor tied her career-high with 50 assists and also added 10 digs for her third double-double of the year.

Caitlyn Anderson posted a season-high of 22 digs and Amy Fackrell posted 11 kills, her second straight match in double digits.

Weber State now has four conference matches remaining on the season.

The Wildcats will return home Tuesday night for their final non-conference match of the season when they host Southern Utah at the Swenson Gym.
