WSU Swept 3-0 by Eastern Washington

Ogden, UT – After picking up a big conference win Friday night, the Weber State volleyball team couldn't keep the streak going as they were swept 3-0 by Eastern Washington Saturday night at the Swenson Gym. The Eagles picked up a 25-16, 25-21, 26-24 win to improve to 4-0 in Big Sky action, while the Wildcats fell to 1-3 in conference play.
The Eagles never trailed in either of the first two sets in route to taking a 2-0 lead. But Weber State came back fighting in the third set, which included 15 ties and five lead changes. Weber State led 22-21 after an Amy Fackrell kill but the Wildcats would never take the lead again. The 'Cats would tie the match at 23 and 24 but two straight points but Eastern Washington sealed the sweep.
Eastern Washington finished with 20 more kills than Weber State and also had 11 more digs and out hit the Wildcats .390 to .211.
“Eastern Washington played a great match tonight and they beat us offensively and their intensity was better on defense,” said WSU head coach Al Givens. “We didn't give up and kept competing but we didn't play the way we needed to in order to win. We didn't have the team balance we needed.”
Weber State was led by senior Chelsea Bair who posted team-highs of 12 kills and eight digs. She also hit a seasonal best .409 for the match. Caitlyn Anderson added nine kills for the Wildcats.
The Eagles have now won four straight matches in Ogden.
With the loss the Wildcats are now 2-12 overall and 1-3 in the Big Sky. The 'Cats will head out on the road next weekend when they play at Montana State Friday and at Montana on Saturday.
