Wildcats crush Laval for exhibition win

After hit-and-miss effort during the opening 20 minutes, the Weber State University men's basketball team blew out Universite Laval, rolling to a 86-57 victory over the Quebec-based visitors.
Damian Lillard scored 23 points, hitting 8-of-16 from the field, to lead Weber State offensively, while Lindsey Hughey added 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.
Kyle Bullinger also recorded a double-double for the Wildcats, ringing up 11 points and 11 rebounds.
As a team, Weber State shot 30-of-70 from the field and 19-of-13 at the free-throw line, while outrebounding the visitors 57-24.
Weber State led 17-6 early, but Laval heated up from the perimeter, connecting on 9-of-16 attempts from 3-point range to cut into the deficit and pull within 43-37 at halftime.
In the second half, the Wildcats cranked up their overall defense and held Laval to just 20 points on 8-of-27 shooting from the field, turning a close battle into a blowout.
Weber State will host Western New Mexico on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m.
