Wildcats Drop Tight Match to Griz

OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to the University of Montana on Friday afternoon at the Ogden Athletic Club.
The Wildcats (2-6) dropped the doubles point, and was unable to rally in singles, splitting the singles matches in the one-point loss.
"We played a really good match today," said WSU head coach Jonas Ehrlin. "We lost a couple of crucial matches, but across the board, I was really pleased with the effort of our girls today. Montana is one of the top teams in the conference and we were right there with them today. We just need to keep the strong play going, and hopefully it will pay off as we get farther along into the season."
Caroline Drugge and Brittiny Moore put Weber State in position to win the doubles point with an 8-4 win in the No. 2 spot, but the Grizzlies pulled out the other two matches with an 8-4 win at No. 1 and an 8-6 win at No. 3.
The Wildcats got singles wins from Keya Jenkins, Elsje Beneke and Drugge. Jenkins defeated Rebecca Bran 7-6, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 1. Beneke defeated Bran's sister, Amanda, at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-4 win, while Drugge cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Kayla Moyse.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Sunday as they face the University of Utah in Salt Lake City at 5:00 p.m.
