Wildcats Drop Two in Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- The Weber State men's tennis team fell to 5-10 overall on the season Friday after suffering a pair of losses at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Wildcats lost 5-2 to Ball State on Thursday and then took a 6-1 loss to UNLV on Friday night.
Against the Cardinals, the Wildcats got points from singles wins by Henning Hipp and Sascha Kiehne. Hipp defeated Cliff Morrison 6-3 (8-6), 2-6, 7-6 at No. 2, while Kiehne knocked off Andres Monroy 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 3.
Spencer Marchant and Cole Paterson teamed for an 8-4 win over Morrison and Derek Carpenter at No. 3 doubles, but the Wildcats were unable to the other match necessary to earn the doubles point.
Against the Rebels, Marchant earned the team's lone point with a 4-6, 7-5, 10-6 win over Matthew Kunkel at No. 4 doubles. Marchant also won in doubles against the Rebels as he teamed with Paterson for an 8-6 win over Kasper Konyves and Attila Toth.
Marchant went 3-1 over the two matches, with a lone loss to Alex Brym of Ball State in singles as his only blemish.
