Wildcats Swept by Sac State

OGDEN, Utah -- The University of San Francisco won four of the six singles matches on Sunday to defeat the Weber State men's tennis team 4-3 at the Ogden Athletic Club.

The Wildcats took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Sascha Kiehne and Simon Unger took down Asaf Cohen and Thai Tu 8-3 in the top spot, while Henning Hipp and Dave Hintze got past William Schumacher and Rainer Nachbauer 8-6 at No. 2.

In singles play, Kiehne defeated Cohen 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3 and Ben Rode downed Jacob Hartwig 7-5, 1-6, 10-6 at No. 6, but the Wildcats were not able to get the final point that they needed to secure the win.

Simon Unger and Henning Hipp lost tough three-set matches at the No. 1 and 2 positions, respectively, as both suffered second set tiebreak losses after winning the opening set.

The Wildcats fell to 3-7 with the loss, while USF improved to 6-4.
