Weber State junior C.J. Tuckett has been honored by the Big Sky Conference
for his performance in WSU's victory over Northern Arizona Saturday. Tuckett
has been named Big Sky Co-Offensive Player of the week.
The Malta, Idaho native had an incredible breakout day in helping Weber
State to a 34-31 last-minute victory over the Lumberjacks. In a snowy blizzard
for much of the game Tuckett set a Weber State school record with 407
all-purpose yards. He rushed for a career-high 254 yards on 27 carries and
scored three touchdowns. The 254 yards is tied for the fifth most rushing yards
in school history. He had touchdown runs of 16, 45, and 1 yards. He also
returned kicks for the first time and had four returns for 144 yards. Tuckett
also had two receptions for nine yards to give him the 407 all-purpose yards,
which ranks as the second most all-purpose yards in Big Sky Conference history.
Entering Saturday's game Tuckett, a 5-10, 200-pound running back, had 197
yards of rushing on the season. This is his first Big Sky Player of the Week
honor. Tuckett shares this week's Offensive Player of the Week honors with
Eastern Washington's Bo Levi Mitchell.
Tuckett and the Wildcats (4-6, 4-3) will conclude the 2011 season this
Saturday when they play at Portland State at 2:00 p.m. Mountain time.
