OGDEN, Utah -- Scott Bamforth scored 18 points, 15 in the first half, leading Weber State to a 78-58 win over Montana State, Saturday afternoon in Ogden before regional television audience on Altitude TV.

Bamforth hit 6-6 shots from the field in the first, including 3-3 from beyond the arc, scoring 15 points as the Wildcats jumped out to a 44-26 halftime lead.  WSU hit 16-26 (.615) from the field while holding the Bobcats to just 8-24 (.333).

“I was really pleased with the way we came out and showed enthusiasm and spirit on both ends of the court in that first half,” said WSU head coach, Randy Rahe
“We had a great game offensively, but I thought our defense really carried us. To hold them to just 36 percent shooting for the game is a great accomplishment because they have a lot of weapons.”

Trevor Morris had another big game for the Wildcats. His 17 points matched his career high which he set Thursday night at home in WSU's 68-52 win over Montana.

Lindsey Hughey, who was just 1 of 5 in the first half, scoring three points, hit 4 of 5 from the field in the second half, scoring 12 points, and ended with 15 for the game. Hughey flirted with a triple double, adding game-high totals of nine rebounds and seven assists to his 15 points.

Montana State (11-12 / 5-6 Big Sky) was led by Erik Rush who scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half. Bobby Howard added 13.  The Bobcats lost their fourth straight game in Big Sky Conference play.

Weber State (12-9 / 6-4 Big Sky) won its third straight game in Big Sky play, temporarily moving into third place in the league standings.  If Northern Arizona defeats Montana Saturday night, the Lumberjacks would be tied with the Wildcats at 6-4.   Ironically, Weber State's next game comes against NAU next Thursday, February 10 at 7:05 p.m. at the Dee Events Center in Ogden.
