2011 Schedule - pdf | html
OGDEN, UTAH - The 2011 Weber State football schedule has a distinctive
Beehive state hue to it next Fall. The Wildcats are set to face Utah State, for
the first time since the 2001 season, in Logan on September 10 and will host
Southern Utah on October 22. It will be the first meeting with the Thunderbirds
since the 2006 season and will set the table for SUU's arrival in 2012 as a
full-fledged member of the Big Sky Conference.
Weber State will open its season on Saturday, September 3 against the
University of Wyoming in Laramie. The Wildcats lost at Wyoming, 29-22, in the
2009 season opening game.
“This is a great schedule, not only for our team, but for our
fans as well,” said WSU athletics director, Jerry Bovee.
“Getting the Aggies back on the schedule should create a great deal of
interest. Southern Utah is set to join us in the Big Sky, so we wanted to get
that rivalry back up and running. Wyoming is close enough for our fans to get
there and back in reasonable time. The Big Sky games have become more intense
the past couple of years as the league has become more balanced.”
The Wildcats will have the opportunity to face the 2010 FCS national
champions on Saturday, October 1, taking on Eastern Washington University in
Cheney.
The home opening game comes on Saturday, September 17, hosting the
Sacramento State Hornets. The Wildcats play four of their last six games at
home, beginning on Oct. 15 hosting Idaho State in the 2011 Homecoming Game. WSU
hosts Southern Utah (Oct. 22), Montana State (Nov. 5) and Northern Arizona (Nov.
12), and ends the regular season on November 19 at Portland State.
WSU won't announce kickoff times until the Big Sky Conference office
and Altitude TV set dates for games
being televised. That announcement won't
be made until later this Spring.
