Bears Take Down Wildcats 6-1

GREELEY, Colo. -- Northern Colorado won two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches on Saturday to claim a 6-1 win over the Weber State women's tennis team at Butler-Hancock Tennis Courts.
Naseem Eslami won twice for the Wildcats on the day. Weber State's top player teamed with Brittiny Moore in the No. 1 doubles match to defeat Stephanie Catlin and Elizabeth Tapia 8-6, but the Bears won 8-2 at No. 2 and pulled out a 9-8 (7-4) tiebreak win at No. 3 to earn the doubles point.
In singles, Eslami came back to win again, earning WSU its lone point on the day. She easily handled Northern Colorado's No. 1 player Jennifer Whateley, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
Nittaya Phonharath rallied from a first set 6-4 loss to win the second set 6-2, but the freshman fell in a tiebreak third by a 10-8 score.
The Wildcats fell to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in the Big Sky Conference. WSU remains winless away from Ogden, where they are 3-0 on the year. Northern Colorado moved to 5-11 overall and 2-4 in league play.
