WSU Drops Pair in Arizona

SEDONA, Ariz. -- The Weber State women's tennis team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end with a pair of losses on the road over the weekend. The Wildcats opened the trip with a 5-4 loss in a non-conference match on Friday against Grand Canyon University, and then were swept by Northern Arizona 7-0 on Saturday.
Naseem Eslami and Brittiny Moore each won in singles and doubles against Grand Canyon. The pair teamed up for an 8-4 win over Cecilia Vergnet and Frederique Van de Velde at No. 1 doubles for Weber State's first point. Eslami's singles win came against Katharina Mittag 6-0, 7-6 in the No. 1 match. Moore, meanwhile, defeated Vergnet 7-6, 6-2 at No. 2.
Michelle Warwick also won for the Wildcats in singles. The freshman pulled out a 5-7, 6-2, 10-8 win over Stephanie Haldeman in the No. 3 match.
Against Northern Arizona on Saturday, the Wildcats struggled. The Lumberjacks took all three doubles matches, and then easily won all six singles matches in straight-sets.
Weber State fell to 3-4 overall with the pair of losses. The Northern Arizona loss dropped the Wildcats to 2-1 on the year in the Big Sky Conference.
