Wildcats Take Down Idaho State 6-1

POCATELLO, Idaho -- The Weber State men's tennis team improved to 4-2 in Big Sky Conference play on Tuesday as they defeated Idaho State 6-1 at Reed Gym.
The Wildcats took the doubles point as Caio Poitena and Peter Ramstromer Pello pulled out an 8-6 win over Nate Gross and Colton Pate in the No. 3 match. Weber State's Simon Unger and Oliver Good set the team up for the point with an 8-4 win over Dakota Pate and Diego Cavalcanti in the No. 1 match, but Idaho State forced the point into the hands of the No. 3 team after taking an 8-6 win at No. 2.
In singles, the Wildcats cruised to five more points, recording straight-set victories at each spot other than the No. 3 match. At No. 3, Poitena fell to Gross 6-2, 6-1 to tie the match score at 1-1, but from there, the Wildcats would not concede another point.
Unger put the Wildcats up for good with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Danel Barrenchea in the No. 1 match. Ramstromer Pello followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Dakota Pate at No. 4, and Landon Barlow took down Cavalcanti 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 to clinch the match for the Wildcats.
Dave Hintze and Good added to the Wildcats total, winning at No. 5 and 6, respectively. Hintze defeated Dan Buckingham 6-0, 6-1, while Good handed Colton Pate a 6-3, 6-1 loss.
Weber State moved to 5-11 overall on the season and maintained fourth place in the Big Sky standings with the win. Idaho State dropped to 3-15 overall and remained winless in the conference at 0-7.
