PULLMAN, Wash. - A disastrous start proved to be too much for the Wildcats to overcome.

Washington State scored three times in the opening 7:46, including a goal after just 36 seconds, en route to a 3-1 victory over the Weber State University women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon at Lower Soccer Field.

The Wildcats fell to 1-3-0 overall with the loss, while the Cougars improved to 4-1-0.

Washington State's Brandi Vega scored on an 8-yard shot from the right side after 36 seconds to put the Cougars in the lead, with Michaela Castain doubling the advantage in the sixth minute and Tiara Pittman made it 3-0 in the eighth minute.

Weber State's Kierstin Raught pulled one back for the Wildcats in the 65th minute, chipping a through ball from Jessie Baddley from just inside the 18 that deflected off Washington State's goalkeeper.

Weber State finished with a season-low five shots against the Cougars' defense, while Washington State tallied 20 attempts.

Next up for Weber State is Air Force on Friday at Air Force Academy, Colo. Kickoff of that match is set for 7 p.m.
