Wildcats Drop Conference Match to Bears

OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women's tennis team continued to fight for its first win of the season on Sunday, but came up short yet again as Northern Colorado took a 5-2 win at the Ogden Athletic Club.
The Bears took all three doubles matches, although the Wildcats were competitive at all three spots, falling 8-6 at No. 1, 8-7 at No. 2 and 8-5 at No. 3.
"Our girls came out battling in singles, but they just came up a little short," said WSU head coach Jonas Ehrlin. "They played really hard today."
Brittiny Moore won her second-straight singles match, downing Jennifer Whateley 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 1 match, and Nittaya Phonharath added a point with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Jennifer Buchanan at No. 4.
The Wildcats also suffered another pair of close losses that could have swung the match. Ashley Tanner dropped a pair of very close sets, falling 7-5, 7-6 to Adriana Nieto at No. 2, while Thais Kurer rallied from a set down, only to fall in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 to Chrissie Hoolahan at No. 6.
