EL PASO, Texas - After falling behind early, the Weber State University women's soccer team was unable to convert its opportunities and make a rally.

Despite five shots from freshman forward Mackenzie Harrison, the Wildcats fell 3-0 to the University of Texas-El Paso in a lightning-shortened 79-minute match at University Field.

Weber State (1-5-0) fell behind 1-0 at the end of the 15th minute as UTEP's Azia Nicholson scored off an assist by Tess Hall.

Hall assisted Mackenzie German just two minutes later to make it 2-0 for the Miners (5-2-0).

The Wildcats had two shots off corner kicks saved late in the half, as UTEP took the 2-0 into halftime.

The Miners made it 3-0 in the 46th minute when Brittany Kindzierski scored on a rebounded shot.

Weber State valiantly tried to rally in the second half, with Harrison putting two shots on frame and another that went off the crossbar.

The Wildcats finished with 10 shots, including eight in the second half. UTEP finished with 12.

Weber State will remain on the road through Sunday when it will make the short trip from El Paso to Las Cruces, N.M. to take on New Mexico State (1-3-1) at 1 p.m. The Aggies are coming off a 1-0 loss in overtime to Sam Houston State on Friday night.
