Wildcats Take Down Colorado Mesa

OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women's tennis team picked up its second win of the season on Friday with a 6-1 win over Colorado Mesa at the Ogden Athletic Club.
The Wildcats countered an 8-6 loss in the No. 1 doubles match, with wins at No. 2 and 3 to claim the doubles point. Ashley Tanner and Michelle Warwick downed Skyler Nelson and Kristen Wykert 8-3 at No. 2, while Carly Lloyd and Nittaya Phonharath defeated Katie Metz and Michelle Phillips 8-3 at No. 3.
In singles, Kristi Elmer cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kaylee Davis in the No. 1 match, while Annika Karlsen also took a quick win, defeating Nicole Lessley 6-1, 6-2 to put the Wildcats up 3-0 and within a point of clinching the match win.
Tanner provided the necessary point with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Shannen McNamara in the No. 2 match, and Phonharath and Thais Kurer added the final two points for Weber State.
