SALT LAKE CITY – Utah racked up 628 yards of offense and rolled to a dominating 70-7 win over Weber State Saturday afternoon at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The Utes jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and then busted out for 35 points in the second quarter. They scored 21 points in the final 3:08 of the quarter and held a 49-0 lead at halftime.

Utah led 56-0 early in the third quarter when the Wildcats finally got on the board. The 'Cats posted a 13-play, 75-yard drive, capped by a three-yard touchdown by Josh Booker to give WSU its only touchdown of the day.

Utah went up 63-7 after three quarters and added another touchdown late in the game to reach 70 points, the most points allowed by the Wildcats since giving up 81 at Montana in 1999. The 70 points was the most scored by the Utes since 1973.

Utah racked 338 yards rushing, compared to 69 for the Wildcats. The Utes also sacked the Wildcats seven times.

“Utah is a big, physical, explosive football team,” WSU head coach Jody Sears said. “We know Utah was going to be bigger, faster and stronger than us but we don't have any excuses. We can't let this game define us we have to take it and try to improve and get better. We've got to continue to grow this.”

Individually senior Jordan Adamczyk finished the day 8-17 passing for 88 yards. Freshman Austin Chipoletti was 4-7 for 16 yards passing. Bo Bolen led the rushing attack with 30 yards. Booker had nine carries for 23 yards.

Tony Epperson punted the ball 12 times, just one off the school record. He finished with 523 yards punting for an average of 43.6 yards per punt.

Chris Wheeler and Roman Valenzuela led the Wildcat defense with nine tackles each.

The Wildcats will face another tough test next week when they play at Utah State Saturday at 6 p.m. in Logan.
