The Weber State women's basketball team (4-7, 0-2) fell short for the fourth game in a row, this time at Portland State (4-8, 2-1), 66-60.

The Vikings pulled away at the end of a very physical game that featured a lot of fouls and a lot of free throws.

Senior forward Amanda Hughes led all scorers in the game with 19 points while Zakiyyah Shahid-Martin added 12 to the Wildcats offensive attack.

Both teams struggled shooting the ball, with the Wildcats shooting 31 percent from the floor and Portland State shooting 35 percent.

Weber State led the entire first half and the Vikings didn't take their first lead of the game until five minutes into the second half at 29-28. The two teams battled back and forth from there until the two-minute mark when the Vikings pulled away.

Weber State got into foul trouble quickly in the second half, putting Portland State in the bonus at the 13:49 mark when the Vikings had just two fouls. Less than four minutes later the Wildcats had 10 fouls to the Vikings' four and Portland State was in the double-bonus for the rest of the game.

The Wildcats quickly joined the Vikings in the bonus at the eight-minute mark when Portland State picked up its seventh team foul. This led to a game of free throws down the stretch. The game's last ten points were all scored on free throws.

Weber State was 20-for-30 from the stripe while Portland State was 21-for-32.

Angela Misa led the way for the Vikings, scoring 16 points and pulling down 16 rebounds.

Weber State outrebounded Portland State, 50-42. Sophomore center Jalen Carpenter led the Cats with nine rebounds while sophomore forward Kalie Matthews added eight boards and Hughes added seven.

The Wildcats turned the ball over 22 times to Portland State's 19, but the Vikings took better advantage of the turnovers they got, scoring 28 points off of turnovers while Weber State only scored 12 points off turnovers.

The Vikings also got the better of the Cats in the paint, outscoring Weber State, 32-20, down low.

Weber State will finally return home on Thursday for a noon matchup with Northern Colorado. The Wildcats have not played at home since December 10, 2013. Thursday's game will be Field Trip Day at the Dee Events Center.
