Wildcats beat Nevada in final Paradise Jam game

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – Weber State wrapped up its time in paradise with a 59-56 win over Nevada Monday afternoon in the final game of the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam Tournament.
Jeremy Senglin knocked down a 3-pointers with 19 seconds left and the 'Cats knocked down two free throws in the closing seconds to seal the win over the Wolfpack.
Nevada held a 25-16 lead with 6:28 left in the first half but the Wildcats closed the half on an 11-1 run and took a 27-16 lead at halftime.
The Wildcats stretched their lead to seven points at 45-38 with 7:30 left in the second half but Nevada responded with a 7-0 run to tie the game with 6:00 to play. There were five lead changes in the final three minutes of the game and the Wolfpack led by two points at 56-54 with 38 seconds left, before Senglin's 3-pointer gave WSU the lead for good.
“It was a great team win for us and I was really proud of how hard we fought and how we competed,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “We couldn't get a lot of looks but we were able to find a way to win the game. A lot of guys really stepped up and contributed for us to pull it out. Our team grew up and got tougher today and that's what we needed.”
Weber State shot 40 percent from the field, compared to 35 percent shooting for Nevada. WSU knocked down six 3-pointers and the 'Cats were 15-of-19 from the free throw line. The Wolfpack outrebounded Weber State 43-23 and had 19 second chance points. The Wildcats had 13 turnovers, compared to 17 for Nevada.
Senglin led Weber State with 16 points, tying his season-high. He knocked down three 3-pointers and dished out two assists.
Joel Bolomboy added 13 points and eight rebounds and had three blocked shots. He moved into eighth place in Weber State history in career rebounding.
The win improves Weber State to 2-3 on the season. The Wildcats will now return home for their second home game of the season as they take on Oral Roberts Monday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.
