Wildcats drop second Big Sky game 86-84 at Idaho

Weber State suffered another heart-breaking loss as the Wildcats dropped their second Big Sky game of the season falling 86-84 to the University of Idaho late Saturday night in Moscow, Idaho.
The game saw 18 ties and 19 lead changes until Idaho's Mike Scott hit a jumper with three seconds left to lift Vandals to the win. Scott also hit a 70-foot buzzer beater at the end of the first half.
Idaho led 44-36 at halftime as the Vandals ended the first half on an 8-0 run. Weber State started the second half on 12-4 run to tie the game at 48-48. The game was tied 12 more times the rest of the half before Scott's game winner.
The Wildcats shot 48 percent from the field, their second best shooting night of the season. Weber State also knocked down 13 3-pointers and outrebounded the Vandals 34-32. The Wildcats also had just eight turnovers in the game.
Weber State was 15-of-22 from the free throw line in the game, for 68 percent shooting, the lowest percentage of the season. The Wildcats entered the game first in the nation in free throw shooting.
“I'm really proud of our teams' effort tonight,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “We fought like crazy and put ourselves in a position to win, just came up short. It hurts to lose but I'm encouraged about where we are headed.”
Sophomore Jeremy Senglin led Weber State with a season-high 22 points, with 20 of those points coming in the second half. Senglin knocked down three 3-pointers and added a game-high six assists, four rebounds and two steals.
Three other Wildcats scored in double figures as junior Chris Golden had a season-high 16 points as knocked down four 3-pointers. Kyndahl Hill had a career-high 14 points and added eight rebounds. Junior Joel Bolomboy had his fourth double-double of the season, finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Sekou Wiggs led Idaho with 22 points and Scott added 14.
Saturday's game was the first for the Wildcats against Idaho since 1996 when the Vandals left the Big Sky Conference, before returning this year.
Weber State will return home for two Big Sky home games as they host Montana Thursday and Montana State Saturday. Both games will begin at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.
