OGDEN – Weber State never trailed and picked up its first Big Sky win with a 68-60 victory over Montana Thursday night at the Dee Events Center.

The Wildcats led 30-23 at halftime and led by as many as 19 points midway through the second half. The Grizzlies made some rallies but never got closer than seven points the rest of the way.

“I was really proud of our team tonight,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “They worked really hard this week and it paid off tonight in a hard-fought game against a good Montana team. We played really tough on the defensive end and that made a difference in the game.

Weber State shot 53 percent from the field and held Montana to 43 percent shooting. The Wildcats also knocked down eight 3-pointers and outrebounded the Grizzlies 30-29.

Joel Bolomboy and Jeremy Senglin each scored 16 points for the Wildcats. Bolomboy finished with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting. He also pulled down nine rebounds and had two blocks and two assists.

Senglin was 5-of-10 from the field and made three 3-pointers. He also dished out five assists and had two steals.

Ryan Richardson had 10 points off the bench and Kyndahl Hill added nine for the Wildcats.

Martin Breunig had a career-high 31 points for Montana.

The Wildcats picked up their fifth straight win against the Grizzlies in Ogden.

Weber State improves to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Wildcats will be back home Saturday to host Montana State. WSU will retire the jersey of former Wildcat standout Willie Sojourner at halftime of Saturday's game.
