Weber State drops fourth straight to UND

Grand Forks, ND – Weber State dropped its fourth consecutive match fall in three sets to North Dakota Thursday evening.
"I really liked our effort tonight," head coach Jeremiah Larsen said. "The more consistent we become with our effort the outcomes will follow."
In the first set, UND jumped out to an early 7-2 lead. UND continued to attack but Weber State looked to make a comeback scoring the next three points bring the score 10-7. The first set continued back and fourth trading points but the Wildcats couldn't hold off the victory and UND claimed the set 25-23.
In the second set, the Wildcats fell behind 7-2. At this point in the match the Wildcats were hitting .191. The Wildcats weren't giving up easily tied the game 10-10 with a kill by Ciera Borho. Megan Thompson and Tanisha Langston put up a block giving the Wildcats the lead for the first time in the match. With momentum in their favor Weber State went on to score the next two points. UND reclaimed the lead at 21-17 before going on to claim the second set 25-19.
Weber State was trailing two sets to one going into the third and final set and had committed 19 errors.
The Wildcats grabbed a 5-4 lead to start the third set but UND went on a 4-0 run but Weber State tied the game back at 12-12. A service error and a block by UND gave UND the footing they needed to go onto claim the third set 25-20.
"We just gave up too many runs but as we get better then the runs that we give up will start to go away," Larsen said.
Weber State was led by Ciera Borho and Amanda Varley who had 10 kills each and 28 attacks. Tanisha Langston had a .238 percentage on the night. Taylor Christensen had 24 assists while Thamires Cavalcanti had a game high of 15 digs.
The Wildcats are now 5-11 overall on the season and 1-4 in the Big Sky Conference. Weber State will next take on Northern Colorado in Greely before going to Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. After that the Wildcats will have five straight home games.
