OGDEN, Utah – Weber State volleyball snapped a 13 match losing streak by taking down Montana State in three sets with scores of 28-26, 25-20 and 25-21. This is the first time the Wildcats have won a match at home in three sets since 2013.

"It's always nice to win but more importantly it's always nice to play well again," head coach Jeremiah Larsen said. "We've gone through a lot of adversity, it's nice to be rewarded for our hard work."

The first set started out almost evenly matched between the two teams. The Bobcats claimed a 6-4 lead but three back-to-back-to-back service aces by Ciera Borho gave the Wildcats the advantage. MSU kept up the momentum taking a three point lead but a block by Audrey Hunter and a kill by Taylor Christensen-Kinikini tied the match at 16-16.

Weber State took over from there taking a four point lead but MSU wasn't giving up and came back to tie the game at 21-21. Weber State and Montana State stayed tied until 26-26. A kill by Andrea Hale put them one point ahead until a Bobcat error gave WSU the final point to claim the first set 28-26. During the first set the Wildcats hit a .323 percentage the best of the night and had three team blocks.

Weber State claimed an early 11-6 lead in the second set. Amanda Varley had several big kills that pressed the momentum in favor of the Wildcats. MSU kept fighting and brought the score within one point and a kill by MSU's Natalie Passeck tied the score at 15-15. MSU took the lead for the first time during the set by a Weber State error at 18-17.  The Bobcat lead didn't last long as the Wildcats took over leading by two points at 21-19.  A quick kill by Megan Thompson claimed the second set for a 25-20 score.

The second set Weber State hit 13 kills off 28 attacks and had three team blocks. Making their blocking total six. Weber State had a two set lead going into the third and final set.

In the third set Weber State jumped to an early 12-7 lead. They advanced the lead to 16-10 but the Bobcats made a comeback and tied the score at 18-18. Weber State took the lead back at 22-20 and a big block by Hunter and Samantha Staker gave the Wildcats the 25-21 win in the third set.

Varley had the game high of 13 kills off 33 attacks. Thompson and Hale each had ten kills. Weber State had 10 team blocks. Hunter had a season high of six blocks including three solo blocks. Thompson added four blocks for the Wildcats.

Weber State is now 6-21 overall on the season and 2-13 in Big Sky Conference play. The last match of the season will be Saturday at 7 p.m. against Idaho State at the Swenson Gym.
