OGDEN -- Joel Bolomboy celebrated his 22nd birthday with his 18th double-double to lead Weber State to a 76-66 win over Northern Arizona Thursday night at the Dee Events Center.

After scoring just four points in the first half, Bolomboy scored 13 in the second half to finish with 17 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds to post his 18th double-double in 20 games this season, tied for the most of any player in the country.

After a first half where both teams struggled shooting from the field, Weber State held a 29-24 lead at halftime. The Wildcats came out hot in the second half and started the half on a 15-2 run with Bolomboy scoring seven of WSU's 15 points. The 'Cats led by as many as 18 early in the second half but NAU would not go away. The Lumberjacks went on a 13-4 run to cut the lead to nine with 12 minutes to play and got as close as three points twice in the second half.

Weber State led by three at 59-56 with 4:17 to play when the 'Cats went on a 10-2 run to seal the win.

“That was one we had to grind out tonight,” said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. “We didn't play our best basketball and didn't put a whole game together. We didn't have a great rhythm, especially in the first half, but we were able to grind and find a way to pull it out.”

The win moves Weber State to 14-6 overall and 6-1 in Big Sky play with their eighth-straight home win. Weber State shot 49 percent from the field compared to 44 percent from the Lumberjacks and WSU shot 58 percent in the second half. The 'Cats also outrebounded NAU 40-32.

Jeremy Senglin added 13 points and freshman McKay Cannon had 11. Zach Braxton posted nine points and pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds.

Weber State is back home to host in-state rival Southern Utah Saturday night at the Dee Events Center.
